Eugene R. 'Hugo' Murchland

Eugene R. "Hugo" Murchland, 90, of Decatur, IN, and having family members in Huntington County, IN, died Thursday, March 6, 2014, at his home.
Mr. Murchland was a graduate of Monroeville High School and served in the United States Air Force during World War II. He retired in 1985 from Fruehauf ,with 43 years of service. He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Magley, where he served on several church boards. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 43, of Decatur.
He was born June 27, 1923, in Dixon to William B. and Amelia M. A. Zimmerman Murchland. He married Mary Jane Worden on April 13, 1947, and she survives.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Donna Nash, of Craigville, and Beverly Murchland, of Fort Wayne; three sons, Dean Murchland, of Las Vegas, NV; Max Murchland, of Markle; and Kim David Murchland, of Kimmel; a twin sister, Jean Renier, of Monroeville; brother, William Murchland Jr., of Parowan, UT; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A service was held on Monday, March 10, 2014, in the Salem United Church of Christ, Magley. Interment followed at the Salem United Church of Christ Cemetery, with military graveside honors conducted by the American Legion Post 43 Color Guard.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Adams County Community Foundation - Heart Fund or Adams County Community Foundation - Cancer Fund.
Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, was in charge of arrangements.
