Donald Shaffer

Donald Shaffer, 93, of Huntington, IN died Wednesday, April 3, 2014, at 2:30 a.m. at Oakbrook Village in Huntington.

Mr. Shaffer worked at Dana Weatherhead in Columbia City. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Huntington. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of VFW 2689 Huntington, Disabled Veterans and American Legion 160, Roanoke.

He was born July 26, 1920, in Wabash County to Landy R. and Cora Henemyer Shaffer. He married Claudine Bauer on Jan. 25, 1947, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 10, 1990.

Survivors include two sons, Daniel (Jackie) Shaffer and Richard E. (Vickie) Shaffer, both of Huntington; a sister, Genevieve Kneller, of Huntington; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Calling is Friday, April 4, 2014, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, with recitation of the Rosary at 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday, April 5, 2014, at 10 a.m. at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry St., Huntington. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington.
