Evelyn M. Bates, 76, of Huntington, IN, died Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at 11:35 a.m. at Heritage Pointe, in Warren.
Mrs. Bates graduated from Chester High School, Wells County, in 1957 and attended Marion Beauty College, in Marion. She owned and operated the Golden Charm Beauty Salon, in Huntington, for 20 years. She later worked at United Technologies, the Huntington County Community School Corporation and as a stylist for Victory Noll. She was a member and former treasurer of Keystone United Methodist Church, in Keystone.
She was born Nov. 17, 1937, in Wells County to Howard and Adah Hunt Grimm. She married James H. Bates on June 24, 1956, in Keystone. He preceded her in death on April 3, 2010.
Survivors include a son, Raymond H. (Suzanne) Bates, of Huntington; and three grandchildren, Brianna Bates, Rebekah Bates and Scott Bates.
Calling is Saturday, April 12, 2014, from 10 a.m. to noon, with a service following at noon, at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Drive, Huntington. Rev. Janice Barber will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Huntington.
