Opal L. "Peg" Gamble, 102, of Huntington, died Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at 9:15 p.m. at Miller's Merry Manor.
Mrs. Gamble retired after working as a cook at Miller's Merry Manor for more than 30 years. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, in Huntington, and a member of the Rosary Sodality. She was also a member of the Senior Citizens Rhythm Band.
She was born May 16, 1911, in Rock Creek Township, Huntington County, to Frank and Sarah Lawrence Hoag. She married Leslie H. Gamble on Nov. 20, 1931. Her husband preceded her in death on Sept. 6, 1975.
Survivors include two sons, William (Ellen) Gamble and Michael (Lora) Gamble, both of Huntington; a daughter, Betty Beeks, of Huntington; 21 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Calling is Sunday, April 13, 2014, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., with recitation of the Rosary at 6 p.m., at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 14, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 903 N. Jefferson St., Huntington. Rev. John Pfister will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington.
