Phillip D. Hinds

Phillip Dean Hinds, 81, of Marion, IN, and a native of Huntington County, IN, died Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at 9:22 p.m. at St. Vincent Hospital due to complications from a motor vehicle accident on March 19.

Mr. Hinds graduated from Banquo High School in 1950. He had been employed at Benic Enterprises, in Fairmount, and at Wimmer Lime Service and Red Gold.

He was born Dec. 29, 1932, in Huntington County to John and Geraldine Stout Hinds. He married Gayle K. Manning, and she survives.

Additional survivors include a son, David A. (Kathy) Hinds, of Marion; a daughter, Jackie S. (Doug) Carl, of Marion; a daughter-in-law, Shari M. Hinds, of Brownsburg; a sister, Becky Manning, of Marion; a sister-in-law, Marilyn (Jim) Hix, of Dalton, GA; a brother-in-law, Phil (Carolyn) Manning, of Columbia City; seven grandchildren, Kristi L. (Kelsy) Zumbrun, of South Bend; Matthew D. (Andrea) Hinds, of Brownsburg; Blake D. Carl, of Marion; Michael A. Stalnaker, of Mishawaka; and Andrew D. Stalnaker, Dean A. Hinds and Jessie L. Hinds, all of Brownsburg; and two great-grandchildren.

A service was held on Monday, April 14, 2014, at Lakeview Wesleyan Church, Marion. Rev. Tom Robbins, Rev. Ron Meyer and Rev. Tim McClellan officiated. Burial was at Van Buren Cemetery, in Van Buren.
