Fred L. Diefenbaugh

Fred L. Diefenbaugh, 78, of Huntington, IN, died Saturday, April 19, 2014, at 10:47 a.m. at Parkview Huntington Hospital.

Mr. Diefenbaugh graduated from Bippus High School in 1953. He farmed in Huntington County and was part owner of Gemco, in Andrews, for 20 years. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, in Bippus; served on the board of directors for Bippus State Bank; and was a member of American Legion Post 248.

He was born Nov. 18, 1935, in Bippus to Clarence and Doris P. Shinkel Diefenbaugh. He married Mary Louise Thompson on Aug. 3, 1958, in Wabash. His wife survives.

Additional survivors include two sons, Lee A. (Julie) Diefenbaugh, of North Manchester, and Jay D. (Emily) Diefenbaugh; a daughter, Sue L. (Kort) Sell, of Huntington; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Calling is Thursday, April 24, 2014, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Drive, Huntington. A service will be held at the mortuary on Friday, April 25, 2014, at 10 a.m., with Rev. Ashlyn Kippert officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, in Servia, with military rites conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2689, of Huntington.
