Virginia M. Dodd

Virginia M. Lynch Dodd, 97, of Lantana, FL, and a former resident of Roanoke, IN, died Friday, April 18, 2014, at 5:50 p.m. at John F. Kennedy Medical Center, in West Palm Beach, FL.

Mrs. Dodd and her first husband, Richard Lynch, owned Lynch Mortuary, in Roanoke, for 36 years. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, in Roanoke.

She was a volunteer bereavement counselor for Hospice of the Palm Beaches and led groups for hospice for 11 years and for Good Shepherd Methodist Church, in West Palm Beach, for eight years.

She was born Jan. 6, 1917, in Edinburg, PA, to Burton and Clare M. Greer Byers Blue. She married Richard Lynch on Oct. 8, 1938, and he preceded her in death on July 12, 1980. She married Wilber Dodd on Feb. 25, 1984, and he survives.

Additional survivors include two daughters, Carol (Dr. William) Kuhn, of Sugar Camp, WI, and Clare (retired Col. Perry) Collins, of Roanoke; five grandsons; and eight great-grandchildren.

Calling is Monday, April 28, 2014, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., with a service following at 3 p.m., at Roanoke Memorial Chapel of Deal-Rice Funeral Homes. Rev. Mark Clough will officiate. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery, Roanoke.
