Elaine C. Shultz

Elaine Clara Shultz, 82, of Fort Wayne, IN, and having family members in Huntington, IN, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at her home.

Mrs. Shultz earned a Bachelor of Science from Indiana University and did post-graduate studies at Indiana University-Purdue University. She worked as an office manager at her husband's medical practice for 14 years, retiring in 1994. She also worked as an elementary teacher for 12 years in Hammond and Auburn. She served as a "gray lady" with the American Red Cross at Landstuhl Army Hospital in Landstuhl, Germany, in 1952 and 1953.

She was a member of the Auburn Ladies Literary Cub, Fort Wayne Country Club, Fort Wayne Art League, Art Guild of Fort Wayne and The Learned Society.

She was born July 2, 1927, in Chicago, IL, to Leslie and Pauline Wosch Hollihan. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Dr. Clifford J. Shultz.

Additional survivors include a son, Patrick W. Ball, of Indianapolis; a daughter, Jennifer (Michael) Fahlsing, of Fort Wayne; a stepson, Clifford J. (Katherine) Shultz II, of Wheaton, IL; a stepdaughter, Marilyn K. Shultz, of Atlanta, GA; a sister, Evelyn (Thomas) Sanford, of Doylestown, PA; and four grandchildren, Leslie (Michael) Cryderman, of Huntington; Andrew Fahlsing and Stephanie Fahlsing, both of Fort Wayne; and Matthew Shultz, of Wheaton, IL.

Calling is Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 825 Covington Rd., Fort Wayne. A service will be held Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 300 W. Wayne St., Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior to the service. Rev. Dr. John Stephen Park will officiate. The family will hold a private interment at a later date.
