Roger D. Young

Roger D. Young, 59, of Huntington, IN, died Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, at 6 a.m. at his home.

Mr. Young had been employed as a machine operator at International Harvester and Majestic. He had also worked at Pathfinder Services. He was a member of Faith Community Church of God.

He was born Dec. 8, 1949, in Huntington to Dean Edward and Lillian Ruth Baublet Young. His mother survives in Huntington. He married Sharon Tillman on Sept. 2, 1972, at the East State Street Church of God in Huntington. His wife survives.

Additional survivors include a daughter, Aliceon (Tony) Stanley, of Huntington; a son, Tom Young, of Huntington; two sisters, Ellen Owens and Judy (Scott) Frewer, both of Huntington; and three grandchildren, Drew Grimes, Alaina Stanley and Ashlyn Stanley.

A service was held Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, at Deal-Rice Funeral Home-Huntington Chapel, with Rev. Stephen Stull officiating. Burial followed at Star of Hope Cemetery.

Casketbearers were Matt owens, Jeff Young, Scott Frewer, Richard Goulding, John Huffman, Heather Huffman and Tim Wolford.

Military rites were performed by VFW Post 2689. The honor guard consisted of Jerry Helms, Leslie Ackermann, Ralph Miller, Mike Hilton, Carl Smith and Harold Bennett. Flag detail was Jerry Walling. Wayne Ashbaugh fired the cannon. 'Taps' was played by Mike Smith and Ashbaugh.
