Sister Virginia Schmitt, OLVM, 92, a resident of Victory Noll, in Huntington, IN, died Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at Holy Family Health Care Center, at Victory Noll.
Sister Schmitt entered the Congregation of Our Lady of Victory Missionary Sisters on Nov. 27, 1946, and made her first vows on Aug. 5, 1949. She served in the missions in Utah, California, Missouri, Arizona, Michigan and at Victory Noll. She served as a leadership councilor from 1962 to 1968, as vice president from 1980 to 1984 and as administrator from 1984 to 1990. She retired at Victory Noll in 2004.
She was born June 20, 1921, in Chaska, MN, to George and Mary Kreuser Schmitt.
She is survived by two sisters, Harriet Pink and Lois Kubes, both of Shakopee, MN.
A Vigil Service will be held on Sunday, May 11, 2014, at 7 p.m., with calling one hour prior to the service, at Victory Noll Memorial Chapel, 1900 W. Park Drive, Huntington. The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at the chapel on Monday, May 12, 2014, at 10:30 a.m., with calling one hour prior to Mass. Burial will be at Victory Noll Cemetery, in Huntington.
