Dean R. Hosler, 83, of Huntington, IN, died Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at 8:40 a.m. at his home.
Mr. Hosler was a 1950 graduate of Union Township High School, Huntington County. He served with the United States Army's 82nd Airborne during the Korean War, from 1951 to 1953. He farmed in Union Township for more than 65 years and worked as a bus driver for the Huntington County Community Schools for 38 years. He was a member of St. Peter's First Community Church.
He was born Jan. 3, 1931, in Huntington County to Victor H.E. and Edna Mae Vendrick Hosler. He married Carol Reed on Oct. 4, 1951, in Huntington. She preceded him in death on Jan. 16, 2007.
Survivors include a son, Joseph (Teresa) Hosler, of Huntington; a daughter, Judy (Steve) Adams, of Huntington; a son-in-law, Mike Thornsbury; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Calling is Sunday, May 25, 2014, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., with a memorial service following at 5 p.m., at St. Peter's First Community Church, 206 Etna Ave., Huntington. Interment will be at a later date.
