Thomas R. Kiefer, 81, of Hartford City, IN, and a former resident of Huntington, IN, died Friday, July 11, 2014, at Bridgewater Centre, in Hartford City.
Mr. Kiefer was a retired machinist and had worked at Schacht Rubber Company. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, both in Huntington. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean War.
He was born Jan. 29, 1933, in Huntington to Frank and Opal Brenneman Kiefer.
Survivors include two sons, Ernie (Nina) Kiefer and Jerry (Linda) Kiefer, both of Huntington; a daughter, C. Sue (Paul) Miller; three sisters, Esther Warkentien, Chaltha Taylor and Theresa Davis, all of Huntington; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Calling is Thursday, July 17, 2014, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington. A service, with military honors, will be held at the funeral home immediately after calling hours. Rev. Dale Bauman will officiate. Burial will be at a later date at the Marion National Cemetery, in Marion.
