Delbert P. Karst

Delbert P. Karst, 88, of Fort Wayne, IN, and a former resident of Huntington, IN, died Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at Parkview Hospital Randallia, Fort Wayne.

Mr. Karst retired as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service, in Huntington. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2689, Huntington.

He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, a Third Order Lay Franciscan and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He was born July 13, 1926, in Huntington to George A. and Edith T. Scher Karst. He married Lillian F. Brown on July 11, 1970, in Louisville, KY. She preceded him in death on Feb.18, 2012.

Survivors include a sister, Rosalia Dluzak, of Fort Wayne.

Calling is Friday, July 18, 2014, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., with recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m., at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2014, at 10 a.m. at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry St., Huntington, with Rev. Ron Rieder officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington.
