Clarence E. Roth

Clarence E. Roth, 89, of Bluffton, IN, and a native of Huntington County, IN, died Saturday morning, July 26, 2014, in Markle.

Mr. Roth was a lifelong farmer, farming in Allen and Wells counties. He had also worked as a machine operator at Dana Corporation, in Fort Wayne, for 30 years.

He graduated in 1942 from Lafayette Central High School, in Allen County. He was a member of the Markle Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon and was a member of the church bowling team. He was a competition corn husker and placed second in the 2010 Indiana State Corn Husking Contest.

He was born Dec. 1, 1924, in Huntington County to John and Anna Rose Meitzler Roth. He married Georgina D. Smith on June 20, 1947, in Markle, and she survives.

Additional survivors include two sons, David Roth, of Bluffton, and Duane "Dewey" (Debbie) Roth, of Rosemount, NM; two daughters, Darlene (Denny) Double, of Decatur, and Denise (Kevin) Hall, of Alexandria, OH; a brother, Charles Roth, of Fort Wayne; two sisters, Edna Eickhoff, of Fort Wayne, and Ruth Anna Graft, of Fremont; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Calling is Tuesday, July 29, 2014, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Markle Church of Christ, 455 E. Morse St., Markle. A service will be held at the church on Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at 11 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service. Gerald O. Moreland and Greg Comp will officiate. Interment will be at the Markle Cemetery.
