Lynn Carter, 56, of Huntington, IN, died Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, at her home.
Ms. Carter taught physical education in the Huntington County Community Schools for 32 years and coached several school sports teams at all levels. She attended Pilchers Chapel United Methodist Church, in Huntington County.
She graduated from Huntington North High School in 1976 and was inducted into the HNHS Sports Hall of Fame in 2005. She was the first female to receive an athletic scholarship from Huntington College, where she graduated in 1980. She received her master's degree from Ball State University in 1984.
She was born Jan. 31, 1958, in Huntington to Robert and Nancy Weinley Carter. She is survived by her father and stepmother, Robert and Barbara Carter, of Huntington.
Additional survivors include three sisters, Cheryl (Michael) Emerson, of Valparaiso, and Jill (Sam) Brown and Amy (Tom) Spahr, both of Huntington.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Pilchers Chapel United Methodist Church, 2039S-600W, Huntington. Rev. Veryl Roth and Rev. Russell Buzzard will officiate.
