Catherine M. Binkley

Catherine M. Binkley, 94, of Markle, IN, died Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, at Ossian Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Binkley and her husband, both ordained ministers in the Churches of God, General Conference, pastored churches in Illinois, Ohio and Indiana for more than 44 years. Their last pastorate was at the Markle Church of the Brethren from 1977 to 1982. She earned a degree in elementary education from Northern Illinois University in 1968 and taught in Freeport, IL, and Idaville.

She was born Dec. 1, 1919, in Pleasant Valley, IL, to Joseph and Madie Guenzler Willson. She married Carl V. Binkley on July 30, 1938. He preceded her in death in 2009.

Survivors include four sons, David (Sherrie) Binkley, of Perrysburg, OH; Jonathan (Barbara) Binkley, of Toledo, OH; and Stephen (Char) Binkley and Timothy (Lou Ann) Binkley, both of Fort Wayne; three daughters, Rose Mary (Joe) Lampton, of Zanesville; Ruth Ann (Larry) Whatley, of Ossian; and Rebekah (John) Montgomery, of Kewanee, IL; a daughter-in-law, Donna Binkley, of Bluffton; 22 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.

A service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, at 1 p.m., with calling one hour prior to the service, at the Zanesville Church of God. Interment will be at Lanark City Cemetery, Lanark, IL.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Churches of God Project Help mission in Haiti or the charity of the donor's choice.
