George R. Hagan

George Royce Hagan, 70, of Pendleton, IN, and having family members in Huntington, IN, died Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.

Mr. Hagan graduated in 1957 from St. Mary's High School, Anderson, and retired in 1997 from Delco Remy in Anderson after 38 years in skilled trades. He then earned a college degree and served as an assistant professor of machine tool technology at Vincennes University for nine years.

Mr. Hagan was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel in 2002. He was a member of the Model A Ford Club, Friends of the Library in Pendleton, Hoosier 56'ers, a barbershop quartet and the Spring Valley Quilt Guild.

He was born June 9, 1939, in Louisville, KY, to John Edward and Virginia Lee Hagan. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Suzanne Shetterly Hagan.

Additional survivors include three daughters, Dawn (Jeff) Evans, of Ludington, MI; Annie Hagan, of Philadelphia, PA; and Michelle (Alan) Hagan-Short, of Huntington; two brothers, Thomas E. (Bette) Hagan, of Kokomo, and John R. "Jack" (Marie) Hagan, of Anderson; six grandchildren, Ryan (Sara) Evans, of Muncie; Katie Evans and Jordan Evans, both of Ludington, MI; Gabrielle Kramer, of Philadelphia, PA; and Alexandra Short and Rebecca Short, both of Huntington; and a great-granddaughter.

Calling is Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Lahm Chapel, 211 E. State St., Pendleton. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 2801 Lincoln St., Anderson, IN, with Rev. Edward F. Dhondt officiating. Burial will be at the Grove Lawn Cemetery, Anderson.
