Dorcas E. McDeavitt

Dorcas Elaine McDeavitt, 61, of Istanbul, Turkey, and having ties to Huntington, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014, in Istanbul.

Mrs. McDeavitt graduated from Woodlan High School in 1971 and from the nursing program at Fort Wayne Bible College in 1976. She later earned an additional bachelor's degree from Ball State University and a master's degree from Indiana University. She had worked as a school nurse at Huntington University and taught nursing at Fort Wayne Bible College.

She served in the children's ministry at the Woodburn Missionary Church. She moved to Turkey in 1992 and served in several ministries there.

She was born March 17, 1953, in Defiance, OH, to Rev. Gerald and Violet Ringenberg. Her father survives in Woodburn. She married Dave McDeavitt on June 16, 1990. Her husband survives.

Additional survivors include two brothers, Roger (Carol) Ringenberg and Gary Ringenberg, both of Fort Wayne; and a foster sister, Yvonne (Randy) Nigh, of Rushville.
Calling is Friday, Sept. 5, 2014, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Fellowship Missionary Church, 2536 E. Tillman Rd., Fort Wayne. A service will be held at the church on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014, at 10 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service.

Memorial gifts may be made to Fort Wayne Alumni & Friends Resource Center at Taylor University or World Partners, in Fort Wayne.
