James Feit

James Feit, 71, of Indianapolis, IN, and a native of Huntington, IN, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, in Fort Wayne.

Mr. Feit, a former resident of Columbia City, graduated from Columbia City High School, attended Wabash College and graduated from Manchester College. He earned a master's degree from the University of Saint Francis, in Fort Wayne.

He was a teacher in Community School Tehran, Iran, for many years. He was a member and served on the board of Indianapolis Maennerchor. He was a board member of the Indianapolis German Heritage Society, Palatines to America and Athenaeum Turners. He was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church, in Indianapolis.

He was born Feb. 4, 1943, in Huntington to Ralph W. and M. Helen VanOrdall Feit. He married Jane Meengs in 1967, and she survives.

Additional survivors include two daughters, Jean Feit, of Evergreen Park, IL, and Catherine (Kirby) Purciful, of Greenfield; a brother, Thomas (Barbara) Feit, of Arizona; and three grandchildren, Emmaline, Benjamin and Elijah, all of Greenfield.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014, at 1 p.m., with calling beginning at 11 a.m., at Second Presbyterian Church, 7700 N. Meridian St., Indianapolis.
