Betty J. Williams

Betty J. Williams, 92, of Huntington, IN, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, at 4:15 a.m. at The Heritage of Huntington.

Mrs. Williams graduated from Lagro High School in 1940 and attended Manchester College. She was a member of the College Park United Brethren Church, where she had served as secretary and was active in the Women's Missionary Society.

She had worked as a teller at First National Bank; as a bookkeeper for the Huntington County Community School Corporation; and as a secretary at Huntington North High School, Lincoln Elementary School and Huntington University, where she retired. She was a member of the Huntington College Auxiliary and a volunteer with the Huntington Memorial Hospital Guild.

She was born Feb.14, 1922, in Wabash County to Floyd Charles and Irene Reba Fisher Grossman. She married Donald R. Williams on July 1, 1956, in Wabash County, and he survives.

Additional survivors include two daughters, Trudy (Jeff) Bowditch, of Fort Myers, FL, and Ruth (Ted) Batson, of Zionsville; a sister, Reva Anderson, of Winona Lake; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Calling is Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, Huntington. A service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014, at 10:30 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at St. Peter's First Cemetery.
