Burlin L. Beavans, 83, of Warren, IN, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, at 4:05 p.m. at Heritage Pointe, in Warren.
Mr. Beavans graduated in 1949 from Jackson Township High School, Wells County, and served in the United States Army in the Korean War. He was a retired journeyman tool and die maker who had worked for Almco Steel, in Bluffton.
He was a 30-year member and past president of the Woodlawn Cemetery Association. He was a 40-year member of Brown-Doyle American Legion Post 0368, in Van Buren, and a member of Arbor Trace Golf Course, Marion.
He was born June 15, 1931, in Jackson Township, Wells County, to William Jesse and Nellie B. Beavans. He married Janet Beymer on Nov. 2, 1956, in McNatt, Wells County. His wife survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Stephen (Sherry) Beavans, of Huntington; a brother, Robert (Lucille) Beavans, of Warren; a sister, Becky Shovlin, of Fort Wayne; three grandchildren, Tavis Beavans, of Bluffton, and Jamie Cocklin and Kasey Garcia, both of Huntington; and three great-grandchildren.
Calling is Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Glancy-H. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 203 N. Matilda St., Warren. A service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014, at 11 a.m., with Gerald Moreland officiating. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, in Warren.
