Betty Bixler, 90, of Geneva, IN, and a native of Huntington, IN, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014, at 4:15 a.m. at Woodcrest of Decatur, in Decatur.
Mrs. Bixler graduated in 1941 from Geneva High School and attended St. John School of Nursing in Anderson. She worked as a registered nurse at Jay County Hospital, in the office of Dr. Norman Beavers in Berne and as a school nurse for the South Adams School Corporation. She attended the First United Methodist Church, in Geneva.
She was born Oct. 26, 1923, in Huntington to Marion O. and Mildred Smith. She married Herman J. Bixler on Nov 30, 1947, in Geneva, and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan (Russ) Flueckiger, of Geneva; two grandchildren, John (Brittany) Flueckiger and Andrew (Jiovana) Flueckiger; and two great-grandchildren.
Calling is Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, from noon to 4 p.m., with a service following at 4 p.m., at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home, 100 N. Washington St., Geneva. Interment will be at West Lawn Cemetery, in Geneva.
