Albert Edward "Ed" Gouckenour, 83, of Huntington, IN, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014, at 2:55 a.m. at his home.
Mr. Gouckenour was a graduate of Cass Tech High School, in Detroit, MI, and a 1956 graduate of Huntington College. He worked as a salesman for Taylor-Martin Papers for 20 years, Korte Paper for 25 years and Associated Supply for eight years. He was past president of the Optimist Club and a member of the Gideons. He attended Evangelical United Methodist Church, Huntington.
He was born July 2, 1931, in Detroit, MI, to George Franklin and Alberta Marie Benton Gouckenour. He married Dorothy E. Snodden on Sept. 1, 1951, in Huntington, and she preceded him in death on May 25, 2003. He married Brenda Haisley in 2004, and she survives.
Additional survivors include a daughter, Edette (Joe) Eckert; three stepchildren, Mike (Gladys) Haynes, of Roanoke; Mark (Gina) Haynes, of Fort Wayne; and Meleah (Cindy) Haynes, of Huntington; two grandchildren, Josie Lyn Eckert and Reid Andrew Eckert, both of Huntington; five stepgrandchildren and nine stepgreat-grandchildren.
Calling is Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, Huntington. A service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014, at 10 a.m., with Rev. Marti Lundy officiating. Burial will be at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Huntington.
