Mary E. Monteith

Mary E. Monteith, 86, of Fort Wayne, IN, and having family members in Huntington, IN, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014, at Visiting Nurse Hospice Home, in Fort Wayne.

Mrs. Monteith was co-owner with her husband of Monty's Catering for 41 years, retiring in 1988. She was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church and a life member and treasurer of the Marine Corps League and Navy Club Ship 48 auxiliaries. In 2008, she was named Woman of the Year by the Navy Club Ship 48 Auxiliary and was made an Honorary Lady of the Fort Wayne Firefighters Auxiliary. She was a member of the Significant Adult Ministry at First Assembly Church and had volunteered at the VA Hospital.

She was born in Columbus, OH, to John G. and Edith M. Dalby Roberts. She married Huber R. "Monty" Monteith, who preceded her in death.

Survivors include four sons, Richard (Jane) Monteith, of Dixon, IL; Ronald L. (Cheryle) Monteith, of Huntington; and Roger J. (Judy L.) Monteith and Randy L. (Delania) Monteith, both of Fort Wayne; a daughter, Cheryl A. (Robert) Goble, of Fort Wayne; a sister, Doris Morgan, of Grove City, OH; a sister-in-law, Shirley Monteith, of Bell Center, OH; 17 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

Calling is Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne. A service will be held on Friday, Oct. 3, 2014, at 10 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service, at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 14318 Lima Rd., Fort Wayne. Rev. Will Smith will officiate. Entombment will be at Covington Memorial Gardens.
