Larry E. Layton

Larry E. Layton, 75, of Wabash, IN, and having family members in Huntington, IN, died Monday, Oct. 6, 2014, at 2:50 p.m. at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.

Mr. Layton graduated from Wabash High School in 1958. He retired from Ford Meter Box, where he had worked for 31 years. He had also worked at Container Corp. and at L&M Stamping, in Peru. He was a basketball referee for 49 years and a softball umpire for 35 years.

He was born April 14, 1939, in Wabash to Wilbur E. and Annabelle Barnes Layton.

Survivors include two daughters, Kristina L. (Kirk) Shidler and Angela B. Suddarth, both of Wabash; two sisters, Judy Driscoll, of Wabash, and Diane (Todd) Bitzer, of Huntington; five grandchildren, Kylie (Michael) Lockett, of Indianapolis; Maria Suddarth and Clay Hendrickson, both of Wabash; Brad Temple, of Roann; and Brandon Suddarth, of Fort Wayne; and two great-grandchildren.

A service was held on Friday, Oct. 10, 2014, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, Wabash, with Rev. Tim Prater officiating. Burial was at Falls Cemetery, in Wabash.
