Jack D. Buzzard

Jack D. Buzzard, 92, of Warren, IN, died early Thursday morning, Oct. 23, 2014, at Heritage Pointe, in Warren.

Mr. Buzzard was a 1940 graduate of Jefferson High School. He served in the United States Navy from 1942 to 1945, during World War II, and was stationed on the Bay of Cortez in Panama for part of that time. He participated in the Northeast Indiana Honor Flight in May of 2013.

He retired from Dana Corporation, in Marion, and was a lifelong Huntington County farmer. He formerly attended Christ the King Episcopal Church, in Huntington.

He was born Aug. 5, 1922, in Warren to Noel and Ruby Dillon Buzzard. He married Martha Shoemaker on Nov. 4, 1947, in Warren. She preceded him in death.

Survivors include six daughters, Linda (Gale) Evrard and Jean (Max) Barton, both of Warren; Laura Buzzard and Shelley (Jim Powers) Brooks, both of Huntington; Jan (Jan) Tinkle, of Marion; and Mary K. (Paul) Thompson, of Greencastle; four sons, Steven (Leann) Buzzard, Jay (Tara) Buzzard and Brian Buzzard, all of Warren, and Larry (Rise) Buzzard, of Huntington; a sister, Kathern Ralston, of Warren; 17 grandchildren, Michael Ancil, Marc Ancil, Matt Buzzard, Jenny Akerstrom, Whitney Buzzard, Ashley Tinkle, Andy Tinkle, David Gordon, Tony Gordon, Nikki Gordon, Kari Moore, Joel Buzzard, Drew Buzzard, Hope Buzzard, Jayson Buzzard, Lacey Couch and Dillon Couch; and 14 great-grandchildren.

The family will hold private calling hours and services. Interment will be at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Huntington County.
