Phyllis K. Johnson

Phyllis K. Johnson, 89, of Ossian, IN, and a native of Zanesville, IN, died Saturday morning, Oct. 25, 2014, at Ossian Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Johnson graduated from Lafayette High School. She worked on the family farm. She had also worked at Gaskill's Grocery Store until 1962, when the family moved to Ossian and purchased Johnson Service Stations and operated them for eight years. She later assisted with the family rental business. She was a member of the Zanesville United brethren Church.

She was born Feb. 22, 1925, in Zanesville to Tom and Murlie Walker Chaney. She married Nolan G. Johnson on June 30, 1945, at the Zanesville United Brethren Church, in Zanesville. He preceded her in death in April of 1997.

Survivors include a son, Denny D. (Mary) Johnson, of Bluffton; a daughter-in-law, Judy Johnson, of Hurricane Mills, TN; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2014, at 3 p.m., with calling one hour prior to the service, at the Zanesville United Brethren Church. Rev. Tom Datema and Rev. Larry Taylor will officiate. Burial will be at a later date at Oaklawn Cemetery, in Ossian.

Memorial gifts may be made to Zanesville United Brethren Church or Camp Cotubic Youth Camp and Retreat Center.
