Geneva M. Getz

Geneva Mae Getz, 92, a former resident of rural Wabash, IN, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, at 2:30 p.m. at Rolling Meadows Healthcare Center, LaFontaine.

Mrs. Getz had been employed as the head cook at Southwood High School for 11 years. She was a member of Parr Memorial Church, Kokomo.

She was born May 2, 1916, in Alexandria to John Lee and Cora Alderson Anderson. She married James Donald "Don" Getz on April 7, 1934, in Kokomo. Her husband preceded her in death on March 1, 2002.

Survivors include a son, Joseph M. (Lynn) Getz, of LaFontaine; two daughters, Mynarose VanSleet, of Boynton Beach, FL, and Beverly (Terry) Faust, of Urbana; three brothers, Robert Anderson, of Summitville; Norm Anderson, of Kokomo; and Sam Anderson, of Alexandria; two sisters, Dora Gardner, of Summitville, and Patricia King, of Kokomo; six grandchildren, Steffany R. (Daniel) Pegg and Jim D. Getz, both of Wabash; Jolene S. Armstrong, of LaFontaine; Jill VanSleet, of Billings, MT, Andrew Faust, of Dallas, TX, and Amy (Scott) Pennington, of Urbana; and six great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, Wabash, on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, with Rev. David Cross officiating. Burial was at the Mississinewa Memorial Cemetery, Somerset.
