Jeanette A. Myers, 85, of Columbia City, IN, and a former resident of Huntington, IN, died Monday, Nov. 17, 2014, at 2:30 .m. at her home.
Mrs. Myers graduated from Columbia City High School in 1947. She served as Whitley County recorder for eight years and had worked in the recorder’s office for 20 years. She had lived in Oklahoma and Gary, as well as Huntington, before returning to Columbia City in 1957.
She was born Sept. 10, 1929, in Whitley County to Earl and Nellie Black Chapman. She married James H. Myers on Aug. 5, 1950, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 12, 2000.
Survivors include four daughters, Laura Byers, Nancy Burman, Michele (Ray) Kitson and Susan Gaff, all of Columbia City; two sons, Douglas (Melinda) Myers, of Albion, and Jack (Carrie) Myers, of Angola; two sisters, Hilda (Vern) Diffendarfer, of South Carolina, and Carol Schinbeckler, of Indianapolis; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Calling is Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2014, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. A service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, Nov. 20, at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at a later date at Christian Chapel Cemetery, in Merriam.
