Walter D. Savieo

Walter Daniel Savieo, 89, of Fort Wayne, IN, and having family members in Roanoke, IN, died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2014, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.

Mr. Savieo served in World War II as a member of the United States Army and was a member of American Legion Post 97, in Auburn. He retired in 1976 from International Harvester, where he had worked for 33 years. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Fort Wayne.

He was born in Monroeville to Fredrick and Mary Savieo.

He is survived by six daughters, Margie (Don) Murrow, of Lakeside, AZ; Rita (Dan) Puckett; Linda (Steve) Herrberg and Gloria Ford, both of Fort Wayne; Mary Lou Aguirre, of Greensboro, NC; and Nancy (Jim) Marshall, of Fort Wayne; a son, John (Patricia) Savieo, of Roanoke; a brother, Theodore Savieo, of Payne, OH; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Calling is Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a vigil service at 3:30 p.m., at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 Ind.-930 East, New Haven. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, Nov. 21, 2014, at 10:30 a.m., with calling one hour prior to Mass, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1702 E. Wallen Rd., Fort Wayne. Rev. Polycarp Fernando will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, New Haven.
