Jack C. Schug

Jack C. Schug, 86, of Huntington, IN, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014, at 2:35 p.m. at Tipton House, in Huntington.

Mr. Schug attended Berne High School, interrupting his high school career while serving with the United States Army in Japan during World War II. He received his diploma in 1948 after returning from the war.

He worked for the Erie-Lackawanna Railroad for 11 years, for S.S. Electric Inc. for 11 years and at H.H. Niswander for 15 years. He retired in 1993. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2689, in Huntington, and Bass Masters. He was co-founder of the Huntington Bass Masters and was a member of the fishing hall of fame.

He was born Aug. 22, 1928, in Berne to Walter and Lenora Yoss Schug. He married Martha Zuercher in 1948 in Berne, and she preceded him in death in January of 1976. He married Shirley Sharp on Dec. 6, 1976, in Huntington, and she survives.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald (Jean) Schug, of Andrews, and Randy Schug, of Fort Wayne; three daughters, Rhonda (Dan) Nightingale, of Churubusco, and Rochelle Wamsley and Renee Guhl, both of Huntington; two stepdaughters, Shelley McCutchon and Melissa (Erik) Strass, both of Huntington; a sister Alice Stevens, of Bluffton; seven grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
