Martha E. Scott

Martha Elizabeth Scott, 93, of Warren, IN, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015, at Heritage Pointe, in Warren.

Mrs. Scott graduated from Van Buren High School in 1939. She was a member of Van Buren Central Christian Church, where she had been a member of the choir and the Sonshine Class and had served as financial secretary, deaconess and youth counselor. She was a member of the Van Buren Lioness Club, Theta Club, T-Timers Extension Homemakers Club and Epta Epsilon. She worked for Dr. E.S. Rifner at Rifner Medical Services for 27 years and later worked for Marion Family Practice.

She was born May 14, 1921, in Hagerstown, MD, to William James and Laura Alice Fornshell Thompson. She married Joseph A. Scott on Oct. 19, 1941, at Van Buren Central Christian Church. He preceded her in death in 1994.

Survivors include a son, Michael J. (Diana) Scott, of Lakeland, FL; a daughter, Teresa A. White, of Swayzee; five grandchildren, Don (Deborah) Scott, of Fort Wayne; Amy (Bruce) Boren, of Chesterton; Michele (Clark) Stoller, of Bluffton; Ryan (Lora) White, of Upland; and Chad (Teresa) White, of Columbia City; 12 great-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandson.

Calling is Sunday, Feb. 1, 2015, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Ferguson & Glancy Funeral Home, 201 W. Main St., Van Buren. A service will be held on Monday, Feb. 2, 2015, at 11 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service, at Van Buren Central Christian Church, 201 S. First St., Van Buren. Rev. Heath Jones will officiate, with Rev. Clark Stoller officiating. Burial will be at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Huntington County.
