Walter J. Stephan

Walter James Stephan, 81, of Huntington, IN, died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015, at 8:05 p.m. at his home.

A lifelong resident of Huntington County, Mr. Stephan graduated from Dallas Township High School in 1952. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a lifetime farmer in Union and Lancaster townships and the co-owner of Lengerich Meats in Zanesville.

He was born Jan. 12, 1934, in Dallas Township, Huntington County, to John and Frieda Schenkel Stephan. He married Martha J. Weaver on Sept. 21, 1957, in Huntington, and she survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Ann E. (Brian) Holland, of Coon Rapids, MN; two sons, Michael A. (Amy J. Parrot) Stephan, of Huntington, and William J. (Katja) Stephan, of Jackson, MN; a brother, Carl Stephan, of Bluffton; two sisters, Mae Leedy, of Huntington, and Marcella Westfall, of Grant County; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Calling is Monday, Feb. 23, 2015, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Drive, Huntington, with a memorial following at 2 p.m. Brian Holland will officiate.
