Arline J. Jones

Arline J. Jones, 87, a former Columbia City resident with family members in Huntington, IN, died early Thursday morning, Feb. 26, 2015, at Englewood Health and Rehabilitation, in Fort Wayne.

Mrs. Jones attended Thorncreek School and graduated from Columbia City High School. She was a homemaker and assisted her husband in the operation of Jones Photos, serving as color artist and bookkeeper. She was a member of the Columbia City United Methodist Church.

She was born July 18, 1927, in Thorncreek Township, Whitley County, to Floyd D. and Gladys L. Betzner Chapman. She married William E. “Bill” Jones on July 26, 1947. Her husband survives in Huntington.

Additional survivors include a son, Marquis A. Jones, of Columbia City; three daughters, Carol (Brian) Thompson, of Espanola, NM; Susan (James) Cartwright, of Muncie; and Nola (Robert) Smodic, of Nashville, TN; six grandchildren, Rachel, Michelle, Tyler, Jack, Tom and Grant; and two great-grandchildren.

A service was held on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015, at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial was at St. Matthew’s Cemetery.
