Joretta J. Kerschner

Joretta Joanne Kerschner, 76, of North Manchester, IN, and having family members in Huntington, IN, died Saturday, March 7, 2015, at 2:14 a.m. at the Visiting Nurse Hospice Home, in Fort Wayne.

Mrs. Kerschner graduated in 1956 from Chili High School. She worked at Snyder’s Market for 24 years and at Lance’s New Market for 18 years, retiring in 2004. She was a member of the North Manchester First Brethren Church.

She was born July 31, 1938, in Wabash County to Oscar and Grace Robinson Summers. She married Paul R. Kerschner on June 20, 1956, at the Center Chapel First Brethren Church, in Miami County. He preceded her in death on May 2, 2011.

Survivors include two sons, Donald W. Kerschner, of North Manchester, and James D. Kerschner, of Broadview Heights, OH; a daughter, Paula Jo Platt, of North Manchester; six grandchildren, David (Felicia) Kerschner and Daniel Kerschner, both of Huntington; Andrew (Amy) Kerschner, of Canton, GA; Khristopher Kerschner and Wade Platt, both of North Manchester; and Lynettte (Vincent) Calloway, of Columbia City; and six great-grandchildren.

A service was held on Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel, North Manchester, with Rev. Kurt Stout officiating. Burial was at Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.
