Bernadine Thomas

Bernadine Thomas, 100, formerly of Roanoke, IN, died Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, at 4:17 p.m. at the Heritage of Huntington.

Mrs. Thomas was a homemaker. She was a 1927 graduate of Roanoke High School and a lifetime member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Roanoke.

She was born Aug. 30, 1908, in Pike County, IL, to George and Mary Elizabeth Houser Husband. She was married on Dec. 24, 1931, in Roanoke to Brice Thomas. He preceded her in death on March 20, 1986.

Survivors include a son, Nelson (Waneta) Thomas, of Roanoke; a daughter, Ruth Ann (Tom) Thomas, of Roanoke; a brother, Ted (Clairbel) Husband, of Huntington; a sister, Mary (Art) Burton, of Roanoke; six grandchildren, Polly Carroll, Steven Thomas, Michael Thomas, David Thomas, Mark Thomas and Cindy Burns; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, at the Christ United Methodist Church, Roanoke, with Rev. Kent Maxwell and Rev. William Rapp officiating. Interment took place in the Glenwood Cemetery, Roanoke.
