Walter A. Beghtel

Walter A. Beghtel, 87 of Huntington, IN, died Thursday, May 7, 2015, at 2:10 a.m., at Parkview Huntington Hospital.

Mr. Beghtel was a 1946 graduate of Huntington Township High School. He worked as a heavy machine operator for WW Gravel Company in Roanoke for 42 years before his retirement. He was a member of Central Christian Church.

He was born on March 6, 1928, in Huntington, to William and Mary Fisher Beghtel. He married Norma J. Keehn on Jan. 11, 1948 in Huntington. His wife survives.

Additional survivors include two sons, Steven (Suellen) Beghtel and Jay (Michelle) Beghtel, of Huntington; a daughter, Susan (Charlie) Herring, of Huntington; six grandchildren, Craig (Chanel) Beghtel, Candee (Andy) Kline, Lucas Beghtel, Abby Beghtel, Shannon (Andrew) Fagan and Jeffrey Herring; and eight great-grandchildren.

Calling is on Monday, May 11, 2015, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel. A funeral service will held on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with an hour of visitation prior to the service. Rev. Chris Hayden and Dr. Sam Young will officiate. Interment will take place at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Huntington County.
