J. Elaine Ferguson

J. Elaine Ferguson, 77, of Warren, IN, and formerly of Van Buren, IN., died Saturday, May 16, 2015, at 3:40 a.m. at Heritage Pointe in Warren.

Mrs. Ferguson was a New Castle High School graduate. She was the co-owner of Ferguson Funeral Home in Van Buren from 1957 until 2006. She was a member of the Van Buren United Methodist Church, where she served in many offices over the years. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, a charter member of Gamma Tau Club, U-R Welcome S.S. Class, a member of the Van Buren Lioness Club and a former committee member and treasurer of the Van Buren Popcorn Festival.

She was born Aug. 14, 1937, in Vanceburg, KY, to Philip Merton and Gladys Marie Redden Evans. She married David W. Ferguson on Nov. 3, 1957, in the First Baptist Church in New Castle, and he survives.

Additional survivors include a son, Timothy H. Ferguson, of San Francisco, CA; a sister, Louella (Richard) Shade, of Battle Ground; a brother, Marlin (Karen Sue) Evans, of Mooreland; a sister-in-law, Janet Evans, of New Castle; and three grandchildren, Harley H. Denham, of Peru, and Sydney W. Ferguson and Chelsea W. Campbell, both of Tampa, FL.

Calling is Monday, May 18, 2015, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Heritage Pointe Applegate Chapel, 801 Huntington Ave., Warren and from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Van Buren United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 108 S. 2nd St., Van Buren. A service will be Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at 11 a..m. at the church, with one hour of viewing prior. Rev. Leon Pomeroy will officiate. Burial will follow in the Van Buren Cemetery in Van Buren.

Preferred memorials are to Van Buren United Methodist Church, 105 S. 2nd St. Van Buren, IN 46991. Arrangements are being handled by Ferguson & Glancy Funeral Home in Van Buren.
