Jarold E. 'Jerry' Brown

Jarold E. “Jerry” Brown, 76, of Huntington, IN, died Saturday, May 16, 2015, at 1:55 p.m.

Mr. Brown was a 1957 graduate of Huntington High School and graduated from Huntington College, where he played for the tennis and baseball teams. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier and was also a newspaper carrier for 44 years, delivering the Herald-Press, Journal Gazette and Huntington County TAB.

After retirement, he moved to Marco Island, FL, where he attended the Marco Island Presbyterian Church for five years. He later moved to Brownstown, attending the Brownstown Nazarene Church for two years. After returning to Huntington, he attended the First Church of the Nazarene.

He was born Feb. 9, 1939, in Marion, OH, to George and Mabel James Brown. He married Sherry Baker on April 5, 1958, and she survives.

Additional survivors include two sons, Kevin (Melissa) Brown, of Marco Island, FL, and Curt (Shauni) Brown, of Brownstown; a daughter, Kelly (Steve) Fettinger, of Huntington; a brother, Meredith Brown; two sisters, Sharon Helvie and Marsha Ramey; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Calling is Friday, May 22, 2015, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, in Huntington. A service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, May 23, 2015, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Gene Vickery officiating. Interment will be at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
