Elizabeth A. 'Betty' Ream

Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Ream, 96, of Wabash, IN, and having family members in Huntington County, IN, died Monday, May 18, 2015, at 6:40 p.m. at Peabody Retirement Community, in North Manchester.

Mrs. Ream graduated from Harlan High School and was baptized at the Harlan Church of Christ in 1931. She was a current member of the First United Methodist Church, in Wabash, and a former member of St. Matthew’s United Church of Christ, in Wabash, and had a combined membership in the two churches of more than 50 years. She had been employed by the Stratford House, Gackenheimer’s Pharmacy and Vernon Manor Children’s Home, retiring in 1962.

She was born June 30, 1918, in Fort Wayne to Menno and Mary Myers Roth. She married John H. Ream on Dec. 26, 1941, in Fort Wayne, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 24, 1984.

Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl A. (Orion) Carter, of Sebring, FL, and Patricia (Jim) Vanlandingham, of Wabash; three sisters, Kathleen Thomas, of Fort Wayne; Jean (Lawrence) Kennedy, of Huntington; and Norma (Cy) Gustin, of Harlan; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Roth, of Grabill; four grandchildren, Neil (Abby) Davis, of Andrews; John (Regina) Davis, of Wabash; Dereck (Kim) Vanlandingham, of Westchester, IL; and Tiffany (Steve Wnuk) Vanlandingham, of Milwaukee, WI; and a great-grandson.

Calling is Friday, May 22, 2015, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave., Wabash. A service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, May 23, 2015, at 1 p.m., with Dr. Kent Young officiating. Burial will be at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Huntington County.
