Albert R. 'Steve' Surfus

Albert R. "Steve" Surfus, 90, of Huntington County, IN, died Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at 10:40 a.m. at Heritage Pointe in Warren.

Mr. Surfus graduated from the Chester Center High School in 1942. He was a lifelong Wells County and Huntington County farmer. He was a Beck’s Hybrids seed dealer for more than 30 years.

He was born Oct. 26, 1924, in Grant County to Curtis and Bedith Michaud Surfus. He married Darlene C. Boxell on Oct. 26, 1953, in SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Huntington. She preceded him in death on Feb. 20, 2014.

Survivors include three daughters, Linda (Rick) Till, of Fort Wayne; Kathy (Tom) Reed, of Huntington; and Carol (Jeff) Southard, of Bluffton; two sons, Richard (Diane) Surfus, of Huntington, and Alan (Beth) Surfus, of Markle; eight grandchildren, Michael (Sarah) Till, of Atlanta, GA; Jamie Till, of Fort Wayne; Eric (Lauren) Till, of Roanoke; Traci Reed, of West Des Moines, IA; Noah Reed and Jenny (Derek) Furnish, both of Huntington; and Lauren Southard and Dalton Southard, both of Bluffton; and four great-grandchildren.

Calling is Thursday, June 18, 2015 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Glancy-H. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 203 N. Matilda St., Warren. A service will be held Friday, June 19, 2015, at 4 p.m. at the funeral home, with viewing one hour prior. Rev. Richard Bunnell will officiate. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Warren.
