Donald L. Proffitt

Donald L. Proffitt, 84, of Wabash, IN, and having family members in Roanoke, IN, died Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at 6:47 a.m. at his home.

Mr. Proffitt was a United States Army veteran and served in Korea from 1953 to 1955. He worked as a machine operator at Dana Corporation for 27 years and previously worked at Honeywell and owned a sawmill. He attended Emmanuel Free Will Baptist Church, in Wabash.

He was born in Jefferson County, TN, to James P. and Katherine L. Clabaugh Proffitt. He married Alice Faye Jefferies on Oct. 23, 1959, at the Home Corner Wesleyan Church, in Marion. His wife survives.

Additional survivors include a daughter, Janice (Tim) Harter, of Roanoke; two sons, Jerry (Sheri) Proffitt and Greg (Treccia) Proffitt, both of Wabash; a brother, Jim (Marie) Proffitt, of Peru; a sister, Ruth Pearcy, of Fort Wayne, seven grandchildren, Elizabeth (Derek) Mysliwiec, Kimberly (Adam) Parker, Tanner Proffitt, Tyler Proffitt, Jessica (Ryan) Fishback, MaKayla Proffitt and MaKenna Proffitt; and four great grandchildren, Allison Parker, Madison Parker, Alexia Wyse and Austin Wyse.

Calling is Friday, June 19, 2015, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion. A service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, June 20, 2015, at 11:30a.m., with Rev. Terry Hinds officiating. Burial will be at the LaFontaine I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
