Robert L. Embry

Robert Lee Embry, 95, of Marion, IN, and having family members in Warren, IN, died Monday, June 29, 2015, at the Marion VA Hospital, in Marion.

Mr. Embry graduated from Marion High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Battle of the Bulge, conducted two amphibious landings in Normandy and received two Purple Hearts in World War II. He worked at National China for 37 years.

He was born in Marion to William L. and Pearl Henline Embry. He married Lucille J. McNeely on June 20, 1947, and she survives.

Additional survivors include two daughters, Trudy A. Abbott, of Marion, and Tresa S. (Steve) Bolin, of Midland; a brother, Paul (Pat) Embry, of Upland; a sister, Mary Embry, of Upland; a sister-in-law, Ellen Embry, of Warren; five grandchildren, Robert (Mary) Abbott, Lisa (Randy) Davis, Annie (Brandon) Downam, Kira Bolin and Kyle Bolin; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Calling is Monday, July 6, 2015, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion. A service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at 1 p.m., with Rev. Tom Mansbarger officiating. Burial will be at Grant Memorial Park.
