Robert G. 'Bob' Brickley

Robert G. “Bob” Brickley, 89, of Craigville, IN, and a former resident of Plum Tree, IN, died Friday, Aug.7, 2015.

Mr. Brickley had lived in Chester Center, Plum Tree and Petroleum, where he graduated from high school. He was a veteran of World War II, entering the United States Army in 1944 and serving with the 63rd Infantry, B Company. He was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star with oak leaf cluster.

He retired from Franklin Electric, where he had been employed for 33 years, and previously worked at Gerber Furniture. He was a 70-year member of the American Legion and had belonged to the Lions Club.

He was born Dec. 24, 1925, to Dwight E. and Ruby Brickley. He married Delila Frauhiger in 1947. He married Priscilla Brinneman in 1976, and she preceded him in death in June of 2015.

Survivors include three daughters, Sandy (Mike) Theole and Cheryl (Jim) Hunt, both of Oregon, and Diane (Pat) Oetting, of Fort Wayne; a son, Gale (Marlene) Brickley, of Oregon; two stepsons, Larry Brinneman, of Kentucky, and Dave (Rita) Brinneman, of Bluffton; two brothers, Earl (Shirley) Brickley, of Bluffton, and Jerry (Janice) Brickley, of Springboro, OH; a sister, Phyllis (Herman) Fiechter, of Craigville; seven grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

Calling is Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2015, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home, Bluffton. A service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2015, at 10 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service. Rev. Steve Bard will officiate. Burial will be at Elm Grove Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the United States Army Honor Guard and American Legion Post 111, of Bluffton.
