Doyle J. Paul, 84, of Andrews, IN, died Monday, Aug. 31, 2015, at 8:54 p.m. at his home.
Mr. Paul served during the Korean War with the United States Army 101st Airborne Division from 1951 to 1953, achieving the rank of corporal. He had worked the Huntington County Highway Department for 43 years and served as assistant superintendent before retiring in December of 1994. He was also a lifelong Lancaster Township farmer.
He was a member of Pilchers Chapel United Methodist Church, Mt. Etna Masonic Lodge 333 F.&A.M. and the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, of Fort Wayne.
He was born Jan. 10, 1931, in Huntington County to Walton E. and Jeannetta M. Killen Paul. He married Jean Hedrick on Dec. 24, 1951, in Gaston, and she survives.
Survivors include five daughters, Sheila R. (Rick) Gregg, of Howe, and Marcia K. (Fred) Smith, Janet J. (John) Meyer, Kristina R. (Jeff) Eiler and Denise M. (Steve) Bucher all of Huntington County; a son, Jeffrey J. (Kathy) Paul, of Huntington County; two sisters, Ruth (Lew) Dumbauld, of Phoenix, AZ, and Dorothy Coolman, of Warren, MI; a brother-in-law, Merrill Swaidner, of Roanoke; 13 grandchildren, Brooke (William) Hughes, Ashley (Cory) Vice, Brandon Smith, Preston Smith, Emily Meyer, Ryan Meyer, Weston Paul, Erin Paul, Laura Paul, Evan Eiler, Anna Eiler, Megan (Grant) Sollenberger and Allison (Clayton) Baker; and seven great-grandchildren.
Calling is Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Bailey-Love Mortuary, Huntington. A memorial service will be held at the mortuary on Friday, Sept. 4, 2015, at 10 a.m., with Dr. Veryl Roth officiating. Those unable to attend may view the service on the Bailey-Love Mortuary channel at www.livestream.com. Burial will be at the Mt. Etna Cemetery, in Mt. Etna, with military services conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2689.
