Barbara G. Laurence, 72 ,of Montpelier, IN, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, at 12:34 a.m., at Lutheran Hospitalin Fort Wayne.

Mrs. Laurence worked for 33 years at the Montpelier Middle School in the cafeteria. She was a 1955 graduate of Montpelier High School, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Montpelier, Just A Mere Club, United Methodist Women and Montpelier Pony and Saddle Club

She was born Aug. 16, 1937, in Pennville to Clarence and Modjeska Hedges Russell. She married Gerald D. Laurence on Oct. 16, 1955, in Montpelier. Her husband survives.

Additional survivors include two sons, Gary (Vicki) Laurence, of Hartford City, and Russell (Mary) Laurence of Montpelier; three daughters, Marcia Rumbaugh, of Fayetteville, NC, and Beth (Mike) Baughey and Marlene (Russ) Jones, both of Hartford City; two sisters, Roberta McDirmit, of Fort Wayne, and Carol Sills, of Montpelier; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Calling is Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Walker & Glancy Funeral Home, 109 W. Windsor St., Montpelier. A funeral service will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, at 11 a.m.. with Rev. David W. Chinn and Rev. John Bellante officiating. Interment will be at Brookside Memorial Park in Montpelier.
