Thomas E. 'Tom' Ross

Thomas E. "Tom" Ross, 67, of Upland, IN, and a native of Huntington County, IN, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, at 10:30 p.m. at his home.

Mr. Ross lived most of his life in Upland and graduated from Jefferson Township High School in 1960. He served in the United States Army from 1964 to 1966. He was employed as a custodian for Eastbrook Community Schools for 27 years, retiring in 2005.

He was a member of Center Chapel United Methodist Church and the Emmaus Community. He volunteered at Lightrider Ministries and the Gray Barn. He was active with Upland Boy Scout Troop 427 for 50 years.

He was born Nov. 22, 1942, in Huntington County to Everett and Esther Sliger Ross. He married Ann Woolsey on April 19, 1969, in Stendal. His wife survives.

Additional survivors include a daughter, Amber Ross, of Indianapolis; a son, Jason Ross, of Wisconsin; a sister, Judy (Don) Shady, of Upland; and a granddaughter, Jasmine Ross.

Calling is Monday, Jan 18, 2010, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Jones-Smith Funeral Home, 259 N. Main St., Upland. A service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, at Center Chapel United Methodist Church, 8733E-200S, Marion, with Rev. Jared Jennette officiating. Interment will be at Jefferson Cemetery, Upland.
