Ann Cirullo

Ann Cirullo, 58, of Fort Wayne, IN, and a native of Huntington County, IN, died Monday, Nov. 9, 2015, at the Visiting Nurse Hospice Home, in Fort Wayne.

Mrs. Cirullo was a 1975 graduate of Huntington Catholic High School and, as an eighth-grader, won the right to compete in the National Spelling Bee in Washington, DC. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Indiana State University. She was named a Fulbright Scholar and attended the University of Paris, in France, where she taught English for a year. She studied for her doctorate and served as an associate at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

She was employed by K&K Insurance, Fort Wayne, working with international clients. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Fort Wayne, served as a Girl Scout leader for several years and judged spelling bees.

She was born Jan. 19, 1957, in Huntington County to Joseph and Glenna Fahrnow Harrison. Her father survives in Huntington. She married Daniel Cirullo on April 29, 1989, and he survives.

Additional survivors include a daughter, Emily Jane Elizabeth (Joseph) Rickman, of Norfolk, VA; and three sisters, Paula (David) Funk, Christine (Daniel) Shoemaker and Laura (Matthew) Hughes, all of Huntington.

A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015, at 10:30 a.m., with calling one hour prior to Mass, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4916 Trier Rd., Fort Wayne. Burial will be at Catholic Cemetery, in Fort Wayne.
