Marjory A. Hayes

Marjory Ann Hayes, 92, of Liberty Center, IN, and having family members in Zanesville, IN, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015, at 6:35 a.m.

Mrs. Hayes graduated from Bath (NY) High School in 1940 and had lived in New York and Michigan before moving to Liberty Center. She was a homemaker and later earned an associate’s degree in interior design from Indiana University Fort Wayne. She was co-owner of E&M Interiors, in Bluffton, for several years and had also worked at Color Spectrum, in Bluffton, for many years.

She was a long-time member of Liberty Center Baptist Church, where she served as financial secretary. She was a member of American Baptist Women and served as local president for many years. She was a member of the Wells County Homemakers and had received the Homemaker of the Year Award. She had also volunteered in many areas.

She was born June 16, 1923, in Bath, NY, to Leon and Ida Dobbins Roe. She married John Charles Hayes on June 21, 1941, in Bath, NY, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 22, 1969.

Survivors include three daughters, Linda (Herman) Kilbourn, of Deer Lodge, TN; Judy (Dennis) Schmidt, of Tavares, FL; and Patricia (Jesse) Vidal, of Pennville; three sons, John (Rebecca) Hayes, of Wesley Chapel, FL; Gary (Edie) Hayes, of Martinsville; and Reginald (Phyllis) Hayes, of Zanesville; a sister, Helen, of Bath, NY; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Calling is Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home, 308 W. Washington St., Bluffton. A service will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015, at 11 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service, at Liberty Center Baptist Church, 3091 W. Cherry St., Liberty Center. Rev. Aaron Westfall will officiate.
