Judy K. Hartzler, 64, of Markle, IN, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, at 9:30 a.m. at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.

Mrs. Hartzler attended Rock Creek School in Huntington County and graduated from Warren High School with the class of 1963. She obtained a master's degree in teaching from Saint Francis in Fort Wayne. After teaching for some time in the Fort Wayne School System, she recently worked with Early Childhood Alliance in Fort Wayne. She attended the Zanesville United Brethren Church.

She was born March 6, 1945, in Huntington County to Branson L. and Ollie B. Smith Mauger. She married Nolan Hartzler on July 21, 1973, at the Primitive Baptist Church in Huntington. Her husband survives.

Additional survivors include a daughter, Sherry (Michael) Hand, of Fort Wayne; two sons, Steven (Trudy) Hartzler, of Markle, and Daniel Hartzler, of West Lafayette; five brothers, Richard Mauger and Bob Mauger, both of Huntington; Jack Mauger, of Huntington County; Jay Mauger, of Pennsylvania; and Roger Mauger, of Fort Wayne; a sister, Linda (Kenneth) Poulson, of Huntington County; and two grandchildren, Coby Hartzler and Audrey Hand.

Calling is Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Thoma/Rich, Chaney & Lemler Funeral Home, 308 W. Washington St., Bluffton. A memorial service will be held at Monday, Jan. 25, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Tom Datema will officiate. Burial will take place at a later time at the Star of Hope Cemetery in Huntington.
